I utilize multiple traditional and modern forms of therapeutic approaches to connect with my people. Some patients benefit from traditional talk therapy involving the principles of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which helps re-train past negative patterns of thinking that often lead to suffering. Some patients like to work in between sessions on breathing and mindfulness techniques to help ground their awareness within their mind-body using Mindfulness Based CBT. For patients hoping for a more direct and goal-oriented approach to therapy, I can help apply the principles of Solutions-Focused therapy aimed at targeting specific life missions. Others suffering from years of unresolved trauma, may be encouraged to utilize the EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) method within office visits to help shift brain chemistry into a more balanced state. No two people are the same, therefore no treatment plan should be identical either. Regardless of what we find will work best for you as the patient, all services are delivered with the intention of delivering a meaningful person-centered approach.
I obtained my Master's Degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University in 2005 after studying oppressed and marginalized populations living in and around the NYC region. After working for several years with youth and adults in a variety of settings including in-homes, schools, and health-care settings, I obtained my Licensed Clinical Social Work credentials in 2009. I am also a NJ Certified Social Work Clinical supervisor. I look forward to our time spent together.
